
1. How does my child apply for admission?
Please refer to the Application procedure on our Website (Admission > Application Procedure > Expression of Interest) and the Admission Info Pack will be emailed to you.
2. Is there an entrance exam and if there is what does the exam cover?
Scheduled Entrance Assessment Test (EAT) sessions for Year 7 October 2021 intake will be held in Feb/March 2021 subjected to the CMCO. It will cover the subjects Maths, English and a Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4). (subjected to change according to the CMCO).
3. When will the results of the EAT be released?
Within 3 weeks after the EAT held in Feb/March.
4. Will my child be required to attend an interview as well?
Currently, No interviews are being conducted.
5. Are there any scholarships offered?
At the moment we do not offer any scholarships.
6. What ages do WMSKL(I) cater for?
WMSKL (International) offers Secondary Education from Year 7 to Year 11 following full IGCSE (British) Syllabus. Minimum age to enter Year 7 is 12.
7. Can applicants commence school at mid-term or at second term?
Subjected to availability of space.
8. How many classes are there each Year?
There are usually 7 classes for each Year. There is one Year group with 8 classes.
9. Does the School provide transportation for its students?
We have a school transporters list that parents can contact to arrange for transportation. Please refer to the transporter list . We are just publicising the transportation and this must not be construed as we are responsible for the safety or reliability of the transporters. Parents are to check them out yourself.
10. May we have a school tour?
A school visit can be arranged by appointment.
11. Are the fees refundable once a student is registered?
The Security Deposit and all fees paid upon confirmation of enrolment shall not be refunded or shall not be transferable, if after being confirmed a place, the student does not attend school thereafter or provide sufficient notice of withdrawal.
12. Will the fees increase?
All fees are subjected to change within the regulatory limits.
13. What are the type of fees payable?
Please refer to the Fees Schedule applicable to Lower or Upper Secondary and enrolment year on our Website. This is for standard fees chargeable and not inclusive of books, uniform, co-curricular activities, excursions, assessment and external examination fees.
14. Is there a sibling discount?
There is no sibling discount at the moment.
15. When are the fees payable?
New students ~ once Letter of Offer is given, parents will be provided a due date to make full payment of 1st term fees.
Continuing students ~ As indicated on the Invoice. For the September Academic Calendar, the fees are due on 1st August for Term 1 and 1st April for Term 2 .

17. How qualified are your teachers in teaching the IGCSE subjects?
All our teachers are trained on a regular basis in the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. We would expect all new teachers to have teaching credentials; in the event they do not have, they will be given a time frame to obtain one.
18. Are there sufficient security measures in place in your School?
Yes there are sufficient. We have enough guards at the front and back gates; in addition one of our staff will be at the LRT station in the mornings and afternoons to ensure that the students safely get on and off the station. There are also close circuit cameras all over the school. Security procedures are also in place.
19. Does the School provide learning support if my child is having difficulties in keeping up with the lessons?
Yes, the teachers are all trained in giving learning support whenever it is required.
1. What is school policy on school discipline?
Overall, a corrective and preventive approach, with the involvement of counselling after the punishment has been meted out, especially the heavy ones.

3. What are usual the penalties for offences?
Verbal reprimands & warnings, pledges, timeout, community service, in-school & out-of-school suspension. Caning is not practised
4. What is the merit - demerit system ?
Each year a student starts the year with 100 merit points. When they commit an offence, two consequences will occur – (1) their points will be deducted and (2) They will receive an immediate corrective measure.
At the end of the year, those who have many demerits will have to do a community service project to redeem their points for the next year.
5. Will the discipline record affect the testimonial of a student?
Yes, especially if a student shows blatant disregard for school rules and penalties meted out.
6. Will my child’s discipline records be sent to the higher authorities when he graduates from school?
Disciplinary action taken in school is part of the education process and is not meant to stigmatise students. The records will not be sent to the higher authorities.
7. When are counselling services provided?

8. How is character inculcated amongst the students?

10. What are the various overseas programmes that are available for my child to participate in?
The pandemic has hampered our programmes. We usually have the following programmes:

- Beijing summer camp (june/ july)

11. What kind of Year-end educational trips have been planned for this year?
- This year the year-end educational trips have been affected due to the pandemic. Usually, we have programmes such as:
- Boot camps (eg Outward Bound prog)
- Leadership camps (by specially selected providers)
- Local education trips
- Overseas educational trips (eg Bangkok, Cambodia, Vietnam)
- Overseas community service trips (eg Cambodia)
12. Does bullying happen in the school?
Yes, it does happen as in all schools, be it public or private. But the most important thing is the preventive and awareness programs that we have put into place to minimise this. We also have a very effective corrective process once a bullying case happens.
1.What are the subjects offered for the Year 7 to 9 Cambridge Secondary 1 students?
First Language English, Maths, Science, Bible Knowledge, SPM BM (& Malay as a Foreign Language), Global Perspectives, History, Literature & Drama (Lidra) , Art, ICT, Coding, Physical Education. First Language Chinese, HSK Chinese and Music are electives within the time table. In addition we also French and German classes but they are outside the time table.
2. What are the subjects offered for the Year 10 & 11, Cambridge Secondary 2 students?
Students have some specific selection of these subjects : First Language English, Maths, Bible Knowledge, SPM BM (& Malay as a Foreign Language), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Additional Maths, ICT, Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, History and Physical Education.
3. Why is Bible Knowledge compulsory?
As a school set up by the Methodist Church, it is a policy decided upon by the Methodist Council of Education (MCOE) in line with the Mission and Vision of the Wesley Schools.
4. Does the school offer SPM Bahasa Melayu?
SPM BM is compulsory to all Malaysian students who have taken their UPSR in the primary schools. For those who did not take the UPSR and are confident in learning this subject, they may also do so beginning Year 7. But please bear in mind that the Ministry of Education only allows those who will be turning 17 when they are in Year 11 to sit for the SPM BM examination.
5. Who are exempted from learning SPM Bahasa Melayu?
Non Malaysians, Malaysians who enrolled from Homeschool or International Schools and Malaysians who do not turn 17 when they are in Year 11.
6. Why does the school strongly advocate all students take 8 subjects for the IGCSE?
To attain full or partial scholarships in the pre-U courses, most colleges require good grades in at least 8 subjects. In addition, we believe that our students are in a good position to attain the Cambridge Assessments International Education’s Best Across 8 subjects Outstanding Learner Awards. To qualify for this award, students must have taken a minimum of 8 subjects. Students who wish to concentrate on less subjects may do so with a written letter to the Principal after conducting their own research about the tertiary path and necessary entrance or scholarship requirements. 8. What are the other co academic programs other than the school subjects in the time table?
French & German. Additional Fees are expected from those who want these additional language classes after school.
9. Does the school offer Mandarin?
Year 7s will have the option of studying First Language Chinese (FiLC) or Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi(HSK) Chinese Level 4/5 in the Timetable. It is paired with Music and thus students will have to choose between FiLC or HSK Chinese or Music. These classes are offered from Yr 7-9.
Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi the standardized test of Standard Chinese (a type of Mandarin Chinese) language proficiency of China for non-native speakers such as foreign students and overseas Chinese. The test is administered by the Hanban, an agency of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
10. Will the school follow the September calendar?
Yes, we are transiting into the Y7 calendar in Sept 2021.
11. Students are taking their UPSR in September. Will they make it in time for the new intake and not miss orientation and classes ?
Our incoming Y7s will start school in Oct every year after their UPSR exams.
12. How will the school transit to the September calendar ?
Compressed Scheme of Work for certain years in the Lower Secondary.
1. What are the types of co-curricular activities in the school?
The types of co-curricular activities are divided into these categories
(a) Clubs and societies (C&S) (b) Uniform bodies (c) Outdoor Games (d) Indoor games. (e) Competitions. There is also an annual concert organised every year in the form of a musical drama in which more than 50% of the students will partake directly or indirectly
2. Can my child join more than one C&S per year?
As the club and societies are held on Fridays, all students can join only one club/society. For Year 7 students, Boys and Girls Brigade are compulsory for non-muslim students.
3. What type of competitions can a student be involved in?
We have registered the school with Majlis Sukan Sekolah Wilayah Persekutuan (MSSWP) competitions. Apart from this we also have Inter-Wesley competitions, sports and extra curricular competitions organised by other bodies, co-academic competitions (SASMO,AIMO, Kangaroo Maths, Beaver etc)
4. How do I get on the school team?
Your child will have to look out for announcements via various channels, including the school assembly.
5. Will certificates be given to show a student’s C&S involvement?
Involvement of students in C&S will be shown in the testimonial when they complete Year 11. In addition, they may receive certificates from the organisers from time to time
6. Is the school involved in the MSSWP competitions?
Yes, but not for all sports.
7. Can my son or daughter be exempted from the school’s Boys Brigade or Girls Bridge if they are already a member of another BB or GB company elsewhere?
You will have to write in to the Principal for exemption. Please bear in mind that other official activities of the school take precedence in the event that there is a clash on the dates of the activities.
8. Do the students pay for games which are trained by coaches?
Yes, but these games are not compulsory for all.
9. Is there any sports scholarship offered by the school?
No.
10. Can my child represent the school in an under 12 MSSWP competitions?
The school is not registered for under 12 MSSWP competitions as we are a secondary school.
11. Does the school subsidise the cost for a student taking part in a competition held outstation or overseas?
No, but in the event a student wins a major award in an International competition, he or she will be given a special award during Honours Day.
12. Do the teachers accompany the students for all competitions held outside school?
Yes if they are representing the school.
13. What are the types of games/sports which are trained by coaches?
At the moment, Chess, stacking, basketball, football, badminton and cheerleading have coaches. Other games or sports with coaches will be at the request of the students.
14. How do I know that my child is taking part in a competition outside the school?
As part of the SOP, you will need to sign a consent form for your child’s participation in an external competition and the details are in the form.
Will my child be allowed to take part in competitions that are outside the jurisdiction of the MSSWP?
Yes, as long as they are part of the sports recognised by the Majlis Sukan Negara, but you need to write to the principal.
