On the 11th of January, Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) held its first Eco Assembly for the year 2017 in the Wesley Hall. The purpose of this assembly is to give the whole school an overview of all the Eco projects that will be carried out throughout the year as well as allow the school recognize the board of directors of the Eco-School Committee. As the school will be aiming for the Green Flag Award in the near future, it is important that all the students and teachers gain a deeper understanding about the eco projects that will be carried out in our school. The guest of honour who was invited was Cik Nadia Abdullah Hasbi, a representative from the Market Transformation Unit of WWF Malaysia
The assembly started off with a welcoming speech by Gerald Ser Tze Zhen, the president of the Eco-School Committee of 2017. After his inspiring speech, a video presentation put together by Teh Eng Hong was shown to everyone present in the hall. The video was about all the activities that had been carried out in the year 2016. Next, the school principal, Madam Chia Loy Tian gave a speech and encouraged all the students to take part in these Eco projects as it is an important factor in saving the environment and can help our school in achieving the Green Flag award. After that, Cik Nadia Abdullah Hasbi came onto the stage to give a speech regarding the importance of palm oil and urged us all to be more environmentally friendly when carrying out our daily activities. After the speech, all the members of the Eco-School Committee were officially installed by Madam Chia. The assembly ended with a photography session for the Eco-School Committee of WMSKL(I) for the year 2017.
