This year of 2014, WMSKL participated in the international Green Wave Project. The Green Wave is an action of students planting a tree in the school yard at 10 am on the 22nd May. This is an annual initiative which occurs all over the world, therefore as an aspiring Eco-School, we took part in this international movement.
The tree which was chosen to be planted was the Filicium Decipiens (Kiara Payung Tree). This tree is a slow growing evergreen tree which grows to more than 12 meters. It has large fern like leaves that grows to become very dense, providing the area with good shade. When it blooms, small creamy white flowers are displayed. This species are normally planted in parks or gardens.
