Message from Principal
The year is flying past fast and it is already September, a busy time for students who are taking PT3 and SPM examinations this year. The Forms 3 and 5 students started extra classes in July on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. Currently, they are undergoing intensive revision with the teachers. We monitor their progress continually, helping and guiding them in their studies and providing the support they need through committed teachers. It is my hope that parents also provide the emotional support at home and we welcome you all to drop by the school to dialogue with us should there be a need.
The co-curriculum activities will draw to a close by the end of September for Forms 1, 2 and 4. These classes are currently engaged in different competitions to celebrate Merdeka and beyond that, the ASEAN Community.
We are grateful to parents and members of the Seremban Wesley Methodist Church, the Seremban Chinese Methodist Church, Taman Ujong Methodist Church and the Church of Visitation for all the support rendered to our school Carnival in April. Our students cooperated with the staff to help make the event a resounding success. In carrying out such activities, we hope to help our students develop and hone their organisation and soft skills, together with their talents. We also foster unity in learning to work together for the common good. The students can proudly take ownership of the new, albeit small, facilities given to them in the school from the funds generated. I am truly proud of our students here who can rise up to the occasion to work in unity for the school.
We also held our school Concert where many students readily seized the opportunity to showcase their talents. It is refreshing to see our students excelling in sports and games and co-academic competitions. This year, our students won medals in Aquatics and Ping Pong at the district and state competitions. They also won medals in Basketball and Ping Pong at the Inter-Wesley Sports Carnival. Besides that, some of our students excelled in Solo and Duet Acting at the Inter-Wesley Forensics competition.
That is the beauty of being part of a wider community of schools where our students can compete and fellowship with other Wesley school students in Malaysia, be it in sports or other competitions or at various camps. In fact, two of our Fourth Formers joined Wesley Methodist KL (International) in the Handong Global University Summer Leadership Camp in South Korea in July. The students learned to mix cross-culturally at the camp, expanding their horizon by participating in events beyond the school and national borders.
I wish to congratulate Joshua Tee Tian Jin, our top 2016 SPM student, who scored straight As in his A-level examination earlier this year. Joshua received a scholarship from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to study Mathematics there since August this year.
Wesley Methodist School Seremban aims to be an ACE school, and we are moving forward to achieve excellence in Academics, Character-building and Extra-mural activities amongst out students. We wish to build community here whereby we engage with the parents to work together with us to achieve our aim.
We thank God for His faithfulness and provision in leading, guiding and helping us to provide a holistic education for the students here. To God Be The Glory.
